For Mohamed Njeh, one of the most important steps in his career started with a semester project at EURECOM. A 2021 graduate, Mohamed joined EURECOM through a double-degree program after three semesters at SUPCOM in Tunisia, choosing to specialize in Digital Security.
“Hands-on and international. Small classes, labs where you actually break things to understand how they work.”
From a project to a first job
During his studies, Mohamed worked on a semester project with IABG on adversarial attacks on autonomous driving cars. The project gave him the opportunity to work directly with an industry member and discover the company’s projects and working environment. This close connection between academia and industry is part of EURECOM’s DNA, supported by its strong network of institutional and industrial partners through its GIE structure. When Mohamed later started looking for a job, an EURECOM professor recommended him to IABG.
He joined the company as a Digital Security Engineer.
His advice to students is therefore very personal:
“Take the semester projects and internships seriously, and pick them with intention. My own job came from a semester project I did with a company during my studies.”
A summer internship also helped him discover his interest in cryptography.
Five years later…
Today, Mohamed is a Technical Manager in Trustworthy Systems, Cybersecurity & ML Security at IABG in Munich.
His role varies from project to project, leading technical teams, analysing complex problems, designing solutions and working with external partners.
What does he enjoy most? The constant learning.
“The field moves fast, which is demanding, but it also means the work never becomes routine.”
That is particularly true in cybersecurity, where AI is changing both threats and defense. For Mohamed, cloud security, identity and access management, and AI security are key areas to watch.
To keep learning, he follows research papers and industry blogs and experiments with new tools and techniques whenever he can.
What stayed with him from EURECOM?
More than a specific technical skill, Mohamed says EURECOM gave him a mindset:
“Be open to new technologies and challenges and therefore learn fast and adapt.”
It is a mindset he continues to rely on in a rapidly evolving field.
And his message to students considering EURECOM?
“Yes, without hesitation. It is a great place to start building your future network: great researchers and welcoming people, in a stimulating environment where you can both learn and have fun.”
