Abstract: This talk will introduce a 6G network design based on service-based architecture (SBA) principles over radio access network (RAN) and core network. It extends the SBA design to RAN and utilizes the service-bus to implement the RAN network functions. The intention is to move the rigid point-to-point design of current RAN to the peer-to-peer design and take advantage of cloud-native design for flexible deployment and effective usage of computing resources. It also allows the AI functions to be seamlessly integrated with the RAN, core, and management functions utilizing the same cloud resources. The talk will introduce the necessary management and orchestration frameworks to manage the cloud and network resources, which allows the end-to-end service-based 6G network operating over a cloud-continuum framework across edge, regional and central cloud.
